I had the privilege of meeting Zack through our employer. He and I were training partners. We hit it off pretty quickly because we are both very laid-back, but also through our mutual love of soccer. I was very impressed by this 25yr old college grad. He was confident but humble. He expressed his concerns about our new jobs, and I tried to reassure him that he was a smart guy, and he was more than capable of handling it. I’ve had 4 years of experience in the industry, so I had a decent amount of knowledge about the job. I offered any help that he might need, but I was sure that he would be just fine. I really had an admiration for Zack. I wished that I had that much of my life figured out at his age. He had a love for his family and friends and was so sure about proposing to his soon to be fiancé. I wasn’t sure about much of anything when I was 25. I was amazed at this young man from Kentucky, and how absolutely sure he was about his girlfriend. It really struck me. I admired that so much. Once our few days of training ended, Zack and I parted ways, but we kept in touch through text as we worked in different states. I had a lot of respect and admiration for Zack.

Zack, It was an honor to get to know you. You were a great young man. I’m so disappointed to hear of your passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Zacks friends and loved ones as they navigate this difficult time. Rest in peace, Zack! You will not be forgotten.

Zack was one of the first welcoming faces I met at Walton- Verona High School. Over time, we became close friends and shared many great laughs and stories. While Zack may not have ever realized the impact he had on my high school experience, I think fondly of all the days we sat beside one another in Mr. Trame’s math class and the weekend nights we spent around a fire or watching movies. The impact he made on everyone around him will be what he leaves behind. My heart is broken for those who loved him most. My thoughts are with you in this time.
