Virginia “Ginny” Brandenburg
Virginia “Ginny” Brandenburg, age 90, of Independence, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024. Ginny was born on February 28, 1934 in Covington to the late Joseph and Josephine Keller, where she spent her life caring for others. Her career as a nurse spanned over four decades, during which she touched countless lives with her compassion and skill. Ginny’s commitment to nursing was not just a profession but a calling that reflected her generous heart and nurturing spirit. Ginny was a faithful member of her Catholic community. Her strong belief in God guided her throughout her life and was a source of comfort and strength to those around her. Above all, Ginny cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She was a strong woman who made sure her family was taken care of. She took immense pride in their accomplishments and milestones.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George “Gene” Brandenburg, siblings: Tom, Alice, JoAnn, Rosie and Helen “Honey” and son-in-law: Kent Hoxby.
Ginny is survived by her loving children: Ken (Linda) Brandenburg, Jeanne (Scott) Lester, Barbara Hoxby, Connie Gross, John (Linda) Brandenburg, Craig (Tricia) Brandenburg, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister: Ruth “Bootsy” Stubbe, sister-in-law: Jodie Keller and brother-in-law: Frank Wichmann.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 10am to 11:30am at Linnemann Funeral Homes, Erlanger. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday at St Paul Catholic Church at 12pm. Ginny’s family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers and medical staff who provided compassionate care during her final days and would like donations made in her memory to St. Elizabeth Hospice.
