Tony W. Frederick

Tony W. Frederick, age 91, of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his residence on April 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Tony was born on April 27, 1933, in Bourbon County, Kentucky, and grew up in Cynthiana. A man of tireless work ethic and deep family devotion, Tony spent much of his life on the road as a truck driver. He also ran a water delivery service, raised tobacco, and later served as a custodian at Boone County High School after retiring from trucking. He was known as a man who never sat still—whether it was mowing grass, tending to his garden, or helping neighbors fix their cars, often refusing to take a dime.

Tony was a stern yet loving patriarch who led his family with strength and heart. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—especially camping and fishing trips to Kincaid Lake, playing euchre with friends and family, and the companionship of his beloved Chihuahuas. His hands were rarely idle, always fixing, building, or growing something.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Margaret Frederick; his son, Tony Frederick Jr.; brother, Richard Frederick; sisters, Mildred Moore and Jeanette Hanna; grandson, Jacob Frederick; and daughter-in-laws, Carol Frederick and Kim Frederick (Cupp).

Tony leaves behind his devoted wife of 71 years, Barbara Frederick (nee Mattox); children: Rickey (Eva) Frederick, Kim (Larry) Mahoney, Bobby (Michele Rouselle) Frederick, Johnny (Patricia) Frederick, and Michael (Brenna) Frederick; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Burlington, KY. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Tony will be laid to rest at Burlington Cemetery in Burlington, KY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boone County Animal Rescue, 5620 Idlewild Rd, Burlington, KY 41005—an organization close to Tony’s heart.
