Thomas Albert Lowe
February 14, 1944 – November 9, 2025

Tom “Tomy” Lowe, 81, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on November 9, 2025, surrounded by his beloved wife, Susan, and his family. He was born on February 14, 1944, in Hamilton, Ohio, to the late Gail and Ann (Rice) Lowe.

Tom attended Garfield High School in Hamilton, Ohio, and went on to become a talented locksmith, affectionately known as “the safe cracker” by those who loved and admired him. Tom dedicated the majority of his career to the Mosler Safe Company, where he was part of a proud legacy of craftsmanship and innovation. Following Mosler’s closure, he continued his work with Diebold Safe Company, retiring after a distinguished career in the security industry. Known for his humor and uniqueness, his family will forever remember the green twist tie he always placed on his glass of Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay — a small but meaningful signature of his personality that became a fun family tradition.

Tom had a passion for collecting custom knives, specifically pocketknives, antiquing, and traveling to Las Vegas, where he enjoyed relaxing at the slot machines. He also loved visiting Florida and Gatlinburg, where he could often be found enjoying the beach, the mountains, and the warm weather that brought him so much peace and happiness. He found joy in nature, especially in searching for frogs at night and teaching his nieces and nephews to appreciate and respect the outdoors as much as he did.

Tom never knew a stranger. He will be remembered for his generosity, gentle spirit, and the patience of a saint. Above all, he loved his family deeply. He had a heart of gold and was the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. With his warm soul, contagious smile, and the prettiest blue eyes, Tom left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law John Ameling and Jack Witt, and niece Amy Fultz-Bundschuh.

Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Susan Lowe; his son, Case Lowe; and his sister, Ann Lowe (Jon Barrett). He is also remembered by his cherished in-laws Sandy Ameling, Diane Witt, Becky Larkins (Dave), Nancy Gonnella, and Peggy Finch (Keith); along with many  nieces and nephews — Meredith Milbourn (Mike), Sean Witt (Carisa), David Witt, Jason Witt (Diane), Holly Witt, Andy Larkins (Jenni), Aaron Larkins (Vanessa), Allison Kees (Kyle), Adam Larkins (Missy), Andrea Gonnella, Nick Gonnella, Jacob Roberts (Amanda), and Zach Finch (Kirsten).

Tom dearly loved all his great-nieces and nephews and shared many wonderful moments with Grady, Gracie , Casey, Annie, MacKenzie, Max, Alex, Julia, and Jake.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, November 29th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, Kentucky, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.

In remembrance of Tom, donations may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care  (51 Cavalier Blvd. Suite 200 Florence, KY 41042) in Tom’s honor.

my memory

Tom was always ready to do anything for anybody. Living out of town I did not see him that often. But the one thing he always did for me, was open a bottle of wine and poured a glass for both of us!
