Thomas Leo Bieger
Thomas Leo Bieger, 88, of Florence, KY, passed away on September 13, 2024.
Born on October 27, 1935, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, KY, Thomas was the son of R. Cyril and Henrietta E. Bieger. He began his education at 6th District Kindergarten in Covington, continued through grades one to eight at St. Benedict’s, and went on to St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati. He earned a BSBA in Accounting and an MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
Thomas married Trudy Ann Schultz at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Covington, KY. Together, they raised three children: Joseph Curt Bieger, Thomas Anthony “Tony” Bieger, and Margaret “Meta” Mary Bieger-Sherman. Thomas was also a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren: Patty Bland, Lauren Hunter (Chris), Erin Bieger-Rohl (Justin), Katie Bieger-Randolph (Nash), Megan Bartlett (Nathaniel), Joie Bieger, Marah Bieger, Tim Sherman, and Drew Bieger. He cherished his great-grandchildren Ben Liedel, Joe Bland, Patton Hunter, Rowan Hunter and Thomas Randolph. His granddaughter Allison Bieger predeceased him.
Thomas had a distinguished career at Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, where he worked as a tax accountant and technical analyst before retiring in 1990. He was an active member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Elsmere, KY, and held memberships in the Covington Turners and Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. His community service extended to the Erlanger Lions Club and Boone County JC’s.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Thomas attained the rank of SGT E-5. He volunteered his time generously, providing accounting services to BE Concerned Food Pantry for 18 years and serving as a counselor for the Kentucky Lions Blind Youth Camp for 7 years. Thomas was also deeply involved in local sports, coaching various teams and playing in several leagues, including baseball, basketball, and softball, where he earned numerous championships and accolades.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 am at St. Henry Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Thomas’s name to BE Concerned Food Pantry.
Thomas Leo Bieger’s legacy is one of dedication, service, and love for family and community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
