Therese “Theresa” Marie Franko-Holstein MD

Obituary
Condolences

Therese “Theresa” Marie Franko-Holstein, M.D., 69, of Daniel Island, SC, formerly of Fort Mitchell, KY, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024.

An avid cyclist, Theresa found freedom and peace on bike trails across Ohio and South Carolina. Her hands were never idle; whether knitting cozy gifts for loved ones or embroidering seasonal décor, she found solace in crafting beauty. Her passion for movement extended to aqua aerobics, where she cherished the camaraderie and vitality it brought to her days.

Beyond her hobbies, Theresa’s true calling was as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist. She dedicated her career to delivering countless babies and empowering women to take charge of their health. Theresa graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1980 and completed her OBGYN Residency at University of Rochester in 1984. Theresa retired from her Florence, KY, Gynecology practice in 2018. She was a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrician and Gynecology, a member of the Northern Kentucky Medical Society, and a member of the North American Menopause Society.

Above all, Theresa loved her children deeply and unconditionally. They were the center of her world, and her proudest role was that as a mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Isabel Franko.

Theresa is survived by her loving children, Robin (Ariel Chrisman) Holstein and Helene Holstein; and her siblings, Dr. Andrew (Eileen) Franko, Marty (Paula) Franko, Cecilia (Patrick) Franko-Tobin, and Mary Beth (Phil) Bennett.

A memorial visitation for Theresa will be on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 9:00AM-11:00AM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY. A celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Her ashes will be buried at Highland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to MOMS Demand Action or ALS Society in Charleston, SC http://web.alsa.org/goto/Franko_Holstein.

Condolences

I always enjoyed talking with Theresa many times at Medical Society functions. At one time her son was interested in Savannah College of Art and Design, and my daughter Christine was employed there. Theresa and I also shared an aquacise class at Four Seasons for awhile.
My husband Frank Scudder spent many times with your Mom as he also was OBGYN.
Our condolences for your loss. We will keep you and her in our prayers.

From Susan Richards Bunnell Remembering Theresa

I work for Theresa taking care of Robin and Helene when the first moved here back in the 90’s . She was very nice, friendly and very caring. I took care of Robin and Helene like they were my own, so Theresa could go to work and take care of her patients. She will be missed in all of her communities she was involved in.
