Tributes
Steve J. Oliverio, 57, of Florence, KY entered eternal life surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 4, 2019, at his residence. Steve graduated from Oak Hills High School Cincinnati, OH class of 1980 where he was a part of the 1980 state championship baseball team. He attended Cumberland University and the University of South Alabama on a baseball scholarship and was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the Amateur Entry Draft in 1983. He pitched for the Cincinnati Reds Organization from 1983 – 1989. Later Steve served as a minor league pitching instructor for the Reds.
Upon retiring from baseball, Steve received his Master’s of education from Eastern Kentucky University. He then devoted his time to raising his family and mentoring local youth. Steve was an educator throughout Northern Kentucky for the past 19 years, with the last 9 years spent teaching at Ryle High School. He was also a devoted softball coach, coaching at Boone County High School and Ryle High School. During this time, he helped lead both teams to many championships and State appearances. Steve also provided private lessons through his baseball academy. His humor, charismatic personality and his devotion to helping others allowed him to leave a lasting and loving impact on his family, friends, students, and players.
His father Joseph Oliverio preceded him in death in (2018). Steve will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 32 years, Patti Oliverio, their daughter McKell (Tyler) Quattrone and son Michael Seaver Oliverio; mother Donna Oliverio; brothers: Frank (Karen) Oliverio and David (Laura) Oliverio; four-legged best friends: Wrigley and Ace Oliverio and Rizzo Quattrone, as well as many family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home in Burlington, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at 10 AM at St. Dominic Church in Cincinnati, OH followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery and Mausoleum.
