Shirley O’Mera
Shirley Julia O’Mera (nee Reuter), 91, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Shirley was a Data Entry Operator for the IRS for over 21 years, but most important to Shirley were her roles as loving wife, mother, and grandmother of the O’Mera family and dear friend to many.
She also was a member of Mary Queen of Heaven Church for more than 60 years, and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Covington/Kenton County Lion’s Club, and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. In retirement, Shirley worked part-time at COMAIR as a Secretary in Human Resources and, later, as a 2nd Grade Assistant for Mary Queen of Heaven School.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Emma Reuter; and her siblings, Lillian “Noonie” Lueders, Dorothy Schneider, Ronald Reuter and Thomas Reuter.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 69 years, Al O’Mera; her children, Mike (Jayne) O’Mera, Peggy (Tom) Clark, and Tim (Missy) O’Mera. Shirley also leaves behind her grandchildren, Brittany (Victor), Brad, Jeff, Megan (Brian), Bridget, Katie, and Molly; and her great-grandson, Milo.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 10:00AM-11:00AM at Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Erlanger, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00AM at the church.

One in a Million
Our sincerest condolences to all of Shirley’s family and friends. I feel like I know all of you. Shirley was indeed one in a million and she will be missed terribly. Her stories about her childhood, courting the dashing Al, the love of her life, IRS history, siblings, kids, grand kids, and of course, Milo… I could write a book, and maybe I will! The second grade students at Mary Queen were fortunate to have Shirley in their lives, to read to them, listen to them read, and tell stories of “the olden days,” and to be a great support and wonderful friend to me.
We shared experiences of children and grandchildren, and even conspired as matchmakers for Brittany and Victor. Shirley will live forever in our beautiful memories. We will miss her until we are all reunited. Love and peace to all of you, Jackie and Jim Koop
