Tributes
Sharon Bruno, 74, of Hebron, KY, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. She was born on March 28, 1951, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Billy and Helen Louise Nickerson.
Sharon was a uniquely gifted and deeply spirited woman—diversified in her interests, colorful in her personality, and unwavering in her honesty and integrity. She possessed a sharp intellect and a remarkable determination that was shaped early in life after losing her father at a young age. Guided by her mother’s example of hard work, Sharon grew into a woman who faced every challenge head-on and rose to every occasion.
A talented musician, Sharon attended West Virginia University on a music scholarship, where she studied both Nursing and Music. She sang opera and made several recording records, nurturing a lifelong passion for music. Her love for learning extended to many fields, especially the medical sciences, which fascinated her throughout her life.
Sharon began her life’s journey early and lived it with authenticity. She was eccentric in the best of ways—progressive, matter-of-fact, and naturally accepting of others. She embraced everyone she met and was an unintentional “tone setter,” bringing energy and vibrancy wherever she went.
Sharon was also devoted to the companionship of her dogs, especially her beloved Dobermanns, though she made a joyful exception for her cherished Poodle, “Duckie.” Her dedication to the breed led her to serve as Past President of the Miami Valley Dobermann Pinscher Club (MVDPC) and as a past Delegate to the American Kennel Club.
Professionally, Sharon spent 25 years as a legal secretary with Thompson Hine LLP, where she was known for her dependability, trustworthiness, and strong work ethic.
Her greatest adventure began when she met Bob during a spring break trip to West Palm Beach, Florida. That chance meeting became the start of a meaningful and devoted companionship that grew into 34 years of marriage.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Bob Bruno; her son, Travis Auber; her step-son, Jason Bruno; and her step-daughter, Jennifer (Robert) Forcey. She was a proud grandmother to Zach, Isabella, Kyle, Joshua, Alexis, RJ, and Graham. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
