Shannon Butler
Shannon Patterson Butler, 46, passed away into God’s arms Friday night, October 25, 2103, after a long battle with diabetes. Shannon is survived by her devoted husband Christopher Scott Butler, Latonia. Shannon was the loving mother of Kelby Michael Block and Kagen Marshall Butler. Susan and Jack Washburn, of Crescent Springs, are her grieving parents. Shannon’s brother and niece are David and Savannah Patterson, of Independence. Numerous Butler family members also provided her with much love and happiness over the years. Growing up in Florence and Villa Hills, Shannon attended Yealey Elementary and Jones Middle School. While in middle school, she was an honor student and cheerleader. Graduating from Dixie Heights High School in 1985, Shannon then attended and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University; while at Eastern, she played on the women’s soccer club. In 1993, Shannon received her RN degree from Jefferson Community College, part of the University of Kentucky. Experiencing several years of illness and adversity, the last three years have been happy for Shannon and her husband. She has always been known for her intelligence, her kind heart, her love of animals, and her natural humor. The world and especially those who loved her will be poorer without her. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, her family asks for donations to the Ruth Lyons Children’s Christmas Fund or the Diabetes Association.
