Scott “Egghead” Smith

Obituary
Condolences

Scott “Egghead” Smith, 62, of Elsmere, passed away unexpectedly on January 19, 2026.

Scott was a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky man who never met a stranger. Known for his great sense of humor and easygoing personality, he brought laughter wherever he went. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed riding quads, camping trips, sitting around bonfires and playing poker with his buds. He had a passion for muscle cars, was a devoted animal lover, and was a proud “Jeopardy” junkie who rarely missed an episode. Scott also loved NASCAR and traveled all over to go to these races with his racing buds. When he couldn’t be trackside, Scott would be sure to watch on tv.

Scott worked at Butternut Bread for 11 years and retired in 2018 from Villa Hills Public Works, where he dedicated 28 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lynn Smith; daughter, April Johnson; grandsons, Devin Justice, Joshua Justice, and Jordan Johnson; brothers, Jeff (Gail) Smith and Steve (Kerri) Smith; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Charlotte Smith.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Homes, Erlanger. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. In honor of Scott and his love for NASCAR, please wear NASCAR attire or come as you are.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society, Kenton County Animal Shelter.
