Roy Norman Whitaker, 78, entered into eternal life accompanied by “angels and Jesus” on Friday, April 6, 2018, 2:16 PM at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY, surrounded by his loving family. Roy was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, a Marine Corps Veteran and known to his family as the “hardest working man”.  Roy was born and raised in Lockland, Ohio and moved to Harrison, Ohio his senior year of high school where he was an accomplished student and athlete, lettering in football, basketball and track; as well as being elected homecoming king, and class president.   Roy joined the Marine Corps and just after being discharged from the service, met and married his “sweetie”, Nancy.  Roy and Nancy went on to have and raise 10 children together.  Roy worked many years at Gulf Oil Company in Cleves, Ohio and retired in 2006 from General Mills in Sharonville, Ohio.

Roy’s parents Walker and Elizabeth Whitaker and infant brother preceded him in passing. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy Jeanne (Dagnon) Whitaker; their 10 children: Jeffrey Whitaker, Julie Ann (Eric) Severance, Marianne (John) Miller, Jamie Ann (Tony) Smither, Jon (Pam) Whitaker, Catherine Ann (Ray) Cutter, Vincent Whitaker, Duke (Ronna) Whitaker, Brandon (fiancé Lesa Conners) Whitaker and Angela (Ryan) Walston; his siblings: Gloria Cheek, Peggy (Don) Bachand and Wanda Whitaker; grandchildren: Zackary, Kristian, Shon Todd, Jameson, Blaze, Austin, Jordan, Morgan, Mason, Micah, Faith, Victoria, Zayne, Brittney, Tristen, Spencer, Hailey, Dylan, Katelyn, Brenna, and Walker; great-grandchildren: Madison, Justine, Landon, Paris, Rosalie, and Geneva, and many other extended family members and friends, and also Lex the cat.

Visitation will take place ‪on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Linnemann Family Funeral Home and Event Center in Burlington, KY followed by Funeral Service ‪at 12:15 PM. Burial will be held at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the Burlington Fire Dept., ‪6050 Firehouse Dr., Burlington, KY 41005 or to Disabled American Veterans ‪3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076. Online condolences to www.linnemannfuneralhomes.com.
