Rosemary Mathis
Rosemary Mathis, 85, of Union, Ky, passed away on Sunday,May 8, Mother’s Day. During her finalfew days she was surrounded by all 10 of her children, many of her grandchildren,and other family members and friends. Much of the time those around her joined hands and prayed the Hail Mary,her favorite prayer. She was preceded indeath by her husband of 59 years, Norbert C. Mathis, who passed in 2006.
Rosemary is survived by all 10 of her children, sons Donnie(Donna), Denny (Brenda), Ben (Chris), Norb (Sarah), Glenn (Kelli), anddaughters Debbie Galinger (Gary), Barb Hellmann (Stan), Marilyn Smith (Joe)Rosemary Payne (Steve), and June Hurley (Phil), 20 grandchildren, and 6 greatgrandchildren. She is also survived bythree brothers, Gerry, Louie, and Gene Cahill, and sister, Sarah Brewer.
Rosemary will always be remembered for her quiet gentleness,strong faith, and love of family. Shetouched everyone she met with her sweet demeanor and quick wit. She loved to play cards, cook, sew, crochet andknit. After raising her family, she wentto work for Turfway Park Race Track as a clerical worker and bookkeeper, whereshe was honored as Employee of the Year in 1990. She loved to spend time with her friends fromSt. Henry High School.
Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed by allwho knew and loved her.
Visitation will be at Linnemann Funeral Home in Burlington from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Thursday and Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington. Memorials can be sent to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, St. Elizabeth Hospice, or charity of your choice.
