Ronald “Ron” Lee Unkraut

Ronald “Ron” L. Unkraut, 87, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was a retired truck driver, having spent many years behind the wheel for Taystee Bread Bread, which later became Wonder Bread. He was a proud member of the Teamsters and was appreciated for his hard work and dedication. Ron was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Bealer Council 3908.

One of Ron’s favorite pastimes was betting on the horses at Turfway Park, a hobby that brought him much joy over the years. But above all, family was the most important thing to Ron. He was a loving father and grandfather, living by the saying, <em>“If you can’t be good, be like Papaw,”</em> a sentiment that resonated deeply with all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Unkraut (2008); brothers: William J. Unkraut Jr., Richard Unkraut, Jimmy Unkraut, Thomas Unkraut, Dale Unkraut, Kenneth Unkraut and Dennis Unkraut; sisters: Diane Fieler, Norma Beckett, Rita Unkraut and Marilyn Hamilton; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Unkraut; brother-in-law, John Pingle, Sr.; and nephew, John Pingle, Jr.

Ron is survived by his loving children: Mark (Lisa) Unkraut, Lisa (Joe) Finke and Penny (Mark) Hendy; grandchildren: Christie, Maria, Elizabeth, Joseph, Zachary, Laura, Tricia, Emma and Nolan; great-grandchildren: Miles, Bailey and Bonnie; siblings: Robert Unkraut, Donald Unkraut, Karen Schadler and Jack Unkraut; nieces and nephews: Laura, Rick and Bill Unkraut; along with many other family members.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home, 30 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger, KY 41018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, 10:00 AM at St. Henry Catholic Church, 3813 Dixie Hwy, Elsmere, KY, 41018. Burial will immediately follow in Mother of God Cemetery, Latonia, KY.
