Farewell My Friend

Bob and I were childhood friends..his family moved to Farmington MI the summer between 7th & 8th grade…we stayed in contact over the years and I followed his career from UCLA to his time in the Navy..NW Airlines and finally Delta Air..I surprised him once at UCLA in 1976 and how I ever found him on campus is still a mystery! I made it to his wedding to his first wife and then s few years later she invited me to a surprise party for him..even after a night of partying he would be up early the next day going for a multiple mile jog…YUK! As I was leaving the Cincinatti airport I ran into him again and he invited me onto the tarmac as he was doing his pre-flight checks..then up into the cockpit to watch him load info into the flight computers…you sure cant do that now! Last time we got together was a layover he had in Seattle…I picked him up at his hotel in my convertible and we drove around to all the childhood sites we frequented…I’m thankful for our friendship and sorry to have lost you. Farewell my friend….

Robert Gottis

We are so thankful Bob was part of our family.
He will be missed. He was a very kind and gentle soul. He and Shelley were married 13 years. He said they were the best years of his life. We will miss them both. Lissa Cook
