Robert “Bob” Lubbers

Obituary
Condolences

Robert “Bob” Lubbers, 84, of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was a proud graduate of St. Henry High School. Following graduation, he began his career with Himmler Printing. He then embarked on a dedicated career with Spartan Construction, where he worked for many years until his retirement. After retirement, he was a generous ‘uber driver’ to family and others who needed his assistance.

A faithful parishioner of St. Augustine Church, Bob generously gave his time, serving as Treasurer of the Holy Name Society and a member of the St. Augustine Volunteer Group.

Bob took great pride in caring for his yard and flowers, was an avid reader, and loved spending time outdoors. Some of his happiest memories were made fishing with his children and nephews as they grew up, a tradition he later shared with his beloved grandchildren.

Above all else, Bob was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and wonderful brother. His greatest happiness came from being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ethel Haas Lubbers; siblings: Father Thomas Lubbers, Mary Hardman, and Joseph J. Lubbers; and nieces, Lisa Marshall, Karen Marshall, Janet Marshall, and Danielle Lubbers.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Lou Lubbers (née Arthur); children: Colleen S. Gribben, Terry S. (Holly) Gribben, J. Kevin (Tricia) Gribben, Kelly S. (Chris) Leu, Matthew Thomas Lubbers, and Jeffrey Robert (Maggie) Lubbers; grandchildren: Becca, Brandon, Chris, Casey, Logan, Kasey, Allison, Ashley, John, Marley, Kaya, Graham, Boone, and Piper; great-grandchild, Zaiden; siblings: Jean (late, Ron) Marshall, Ethel “Cookie” (late, Charlie) Chambers, Sister Ruth Lubbers, SND, Dot (Al) Trame, Jim (Karen) Lubbers, Judy (Steve) Kroger, and Linda (late, Walter) Schoellmann; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1839 Euclid Avenue, Covington, KY 41014. Bob will be laid to rest privately at Mother of God Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, in Edgewood or to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Covington.

Bob & Mary Lou have been outstanding neighbors for the 40+ years we have lived on Pleasant Ridge Avenue. Our prayers are with Mary Lou and her loving family. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus and His Blessed Mother give you comfort and strength at this difficult time.

Very Sincerely Yours,

Sorry To Hear

I’m really sorry to hear this. Bob was such a good man. And very patient. He was part of our lives growing up and I really enjoyed being around Bob. I have such fond memories of him and the family spending time at the house. I’ll keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
