Rick Lux of Erlanger passed away at the age of 68 on the evening of May 14, 2026. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Thelma, and his brother, Steven. Rick is survived by his wife, Rose, of 28 years; their children, Zachary (Kelly), Lydia (Kyle), and Ross (Anastasia); his brother, Tom (Pam); his sister-in-law, Kathy; his grandchildren, Samuel, Grace, Lucy, and Tyson; and numerous cousins.

Rick had a long career as a pharmaceutical representative, preceded by a career in banking. Rick and Rose were also known for hosting a unique annual Kentucky Derby party, which always included a rendition of “My Old Kentucky Home.” You could find Rick at Keeneland Race Course any weekend in April and October. He was a member of the Covington Catholic High School Athletic Hall of Fame and was a traditional man who loved surprises and took his family to Jamaica and Ludington annually. Dear Rose and Family

Sending deepest sympathies to the loss of your best friend, husband and shining light. Rick always had a smile to give and a funny sarcastic humor that could make another person’s day. He was consistent on humor. My only hope is that he finds my Uncle Mark Wilson and updates him on our family, Kentucky Wildcats, Derby and Golf. Again, we are so very sorry.
With Love,

The Wilson Family

Dear Rose and family

My sympathies on the loss of Rick. I knew him way back in high school and we had lost touch over the years so you and I have never met but I remember Rick’s fun-loving and larger than life personality. I wish you the best and know that you are in my prayers at this time. Marcia Kreke

Dear Rose

Truly sorry to hear of the loss of Rick. I’ve known him since my high school days at Villa (1976) He was always funny and kind to me. Often saw him at Pius when I would visit family after moving to Las Vegas. It was evident how much he loved you and his family. You are all in my prayers. Mary Ellen (Ginney) Dorough

Sincerest condolences

Rose and family, Rick and I worked together at JNJ for 15 years. He was one of the first people I met at JNJ. He was a mentor and a friend that I so enjoyed. He spoke so often of you Rose and his family that I felt I knew you all. In addition to his fabulous personality and his ability to share a great story, he truly cared about people. He had a tremendous influence on me both professionally and personally. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I will always cherish the times and memories we shared together. “The Governor”

To Rick’s family,
My name is Melissa Wiley and I worked for 25 years with Rick at JnJ.
He was so fondly called “The Governor” at work l. When he spoke, everyone listened.
Rick was incredibly intelligent, articulate, and captivating. But, in this very sad time I think the number one way to describe him was intentional. He loved his family so much and we all at JnJ feel like we know you, as he spoke of you all so frequently. We spoke randomly to discuss “the business” and I used to call him every year prior to the derby. I would have to get his picks and tell him what hat I was wearing!
We all will miss him so much. His guidance and intentional concern for our customers and our patients.
But, mostly, we will all treasure his example of being an honest, hard working, caring human being.
God speed our dear JNJ Governor. We love you and you will always be in our hearts.

My Deepest Sympathies

My dear long-time friend Rose,
I was so shocked to hear this news of Rick’s passing. My heart goes out to you and his entire family. I will always remember the first time I met Rick in 1986 during the Hands Across America event, when we stood on the Suspension Bridge holding hands to create a human chain across America. We just happened to be standing next to each other. When you met and married, I knew you were so lucky to have a wonderful man. His clever poems at the Derby parties will always be remembered. I am grateful to have known him. May he rest in peace.
With love,
Nancy Schulte
