Tributes
Richard “Glenn” VonHandorf (Mr. V), 73, of Walton, KY, passed away the morning of May 14, in the home he built, surrounded by family.
Glenn was born on April 18, 1952 in Covington, KY, the son of the late Richard and Jean (Glenn) VonHandorf. Glenn was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Rudy Donath and grandson Noah Anthony VonHandorf.
Glenn was married to (and survived by) his wife Judy (Roberts) VonHandorf on May 24, 1975, 10 days shy of 50 years. Glenn is also survived by his 3 children, Adam VonHandorf (Cassie), Katie VonHandorf Campbell (Justin), and Tyler VonHandorf (Franca); 5 grandchildren, Gavin, Addison, Isabella, Connor, and Sam; and 5 siblings Karen Donath, Linda (Doug) Fussinger, Paul (Annette) VonHandorf, Danny (Debbie) VonHandorf, Maryann “Missy” (Peter) Jencks; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Glenn worked as a Lumber Salesman and business partner with Hellmann Lumber in Walton, working in the lumber business for over 30 years; ultimately retiring in January of 2022.
Glenn (Mr. V) was humble, he was kind, he was stern, he was firm, he was a man of his word, and he was respected. His legacy was one of service and honesty; and always saving room for a smart alec comment or two. He was a skillful woodworker, using his talents to provide for anyone in need. He donated countless hours of his time to working with students, helping build props for school, supplying material for their school community service projects, or teaching them tricks of the trade.
A private visitation will be held for immediate family. The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Memorial donations in Glenn VonHandorf’s memory may be directed to Walton Verona High School Girls Basketball Program, Walton Verona High School Golf Program (30 School Rd. Walton, KY 41094), or Campbellsville Middle School (230 West Main St. Campbellsville, KY 42718).
