Condolences

Paul was a gentleman, a scholar, and a friend.

A Good Man

Paul embodied civic virtue. He cared passionately for community, government and ideas. He was a man who advocated his beliefs but granted others the same right while recognizing the need to transcend destructive partisanship. He will be sorely missed particularly in these times of public disharmony. He was a man of substance and is a loss to public life.

Condolences from from a colleague

Paul had a great talent for the law. He was a creative man who had a breadth of knowledge that greatly exceeded most of his peers in the law. He had a great sense of humor, and knew how to needle his friends and fellow attorneys. He enjoyed the company of friends and long talks over coffee. He was blessed with friendships over his lifetime. He will be missed by many and I feel diminished by his passing. Joel Jensen

Sad to hear of Paul’s passing

I was so sad to learn of Paul’s passing. In my mind’s eye he will always be the young vibrant lad who played, at Latin School, the role of Thomas More in “A Man for all Seasons.”
After Paul’s short and, in some ways, hilarious stint at St. Pius X Seminary, we kept in touch over the decades. Like More, Paul was a renaissance man. An outstanding lawyer who well understood human frailty, he could be both sharp tongued and hilarious at the same time in assessing human foibles, including those of my own.
I know how difficult his last years were for both him and his family. But in his prime Paul was grand.
A poet once wrote: “They are not dead who live in lives they leave behind. In those whom they have blessed, they live a life again.”
So let it be with Paul.
My sincere condolences to Paul’s family.
