Obituary
Condolences

Patricia J. “Patty” Suedkamp, age 80, of Erlanger, KY, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Coldspring Transitional Care Center.

A 1963 graduate of Holy Cross High School, Patty dedicated her life to serving her community with unmatched compassion, and pride. For more than 40 years, she played a vital role in the Erlanger/Elsmere community through countless acts of service and leadership.

Patty was the first secretary of both the Erlanger Fire Department and the Airport Fire Department. Her service extended to airport field maintenance and over 11 years with the Erlanger Rescue Squad. She proudly served on Erlanger City Council for 25 years, where one of her proudest accomplishments was serving as Vice Mayor. She was especially passionate about the annual “Shop with a Cop” program, which brought joy to local children every year.

Deeply involved in the community, Patty served as Chairperson of the Erlanger Renaissance Committee and Chairman of the Friendship Garden. She also taught CPR, worked with special needs children in the Erlanger/Elsmere School System, and was a dedicated member of the Erlanger Police Department and Volunteers in Police Service.

While Patty’s public service was extensive, she loved to have a good time and a good bourbon but her greatest joy came from being surrounded by family. She adored her 6 grandchildren and was lovingly known as “Mimi”. Patty was the heart of the neighborhood and could be found on her front porch every evening, always welcoming a chat with the neighbors or a passerby she’d never met. She was a beloved figure to the neighborhood children, who fondly called her “Aunt Patty.”

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert “Bruce” Suedkamp and parents, Bud and Marian Winston.

Patty is survived by her children: Robert “Jason” (Heather) Suedkamp, Erik (Lisa) Suedkamp and Jamie (James) Hils; grandchildren: Brinley, Saylor, Noble, Nash, Camden and Teagan; sisters: Sr. Colleen Winton OSB, Pamela Winston and Lisa (Rob) Hughes; nieces, Kristin Tewes and Allison Hughes.

A memorial visitation to celebrate Patty’s life will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM, at Linnemann Funeral Home, 30 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger, KY 41018.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Fairhaven Rescue Mission, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Ronald McDonald House Charities by clicking on any of the names.

A Woman with a Real Spark

Patty was such a spark! She welcomed me right into the family when Shane brought me to the Christmas party not long after we were married, and later gave long distance love when we adopted Dakota. I will never forget her smile and energy. I’m grateful to have gotten to know her. Sending love, Gail

Positivity personified!

Guy and I had the privilege of running squad with Patty. She was fun but dedicated, she loved people and her affection drew others to her. I can’t remember her being anything but positive when we met in later years. She was a joy to be with and only wished the best in others. I am sad she is gone but glad she was in our lives.
