Patrick Ireland
Patrick Ireland, 79, passed away at home peacefully June 13, 2024. He will be laid to rest in Northern Kentucky with his beloved wife Jeanetta (Stearman) Ireland, after too long an absence. He is survived by his sons Thomas and John Ireland, who will miss him terribly.
Patrick was born October 29, 1944 in Covington, Kentucky, son of the late Kathryn (Grady) Ireland and Emmett Ireland. He was one of five brothers, who loved each other as much as they loved to argue. He met his wife Jeanetta as they studied at St. Louis University before his career led him to Worcester, MA. Patrick was a Professor of English Literature at Holy Cross College for more than 45 years, also serving as the English Department Chair. He was devoted to his family and had a passion for cooking and baking to entertain his loved ones.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on July 9, 2024 at 11AM at St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, KY. He will be buried at St. Mary Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY. Farewell good friend
Pat was a great person to know and we often kidded him he would be pope. Spent many hours and days in college in conversation usually unique and often humorous. Go with God Paddy
