Michael T. “Mick” Buckley
Michael T. “Mick” Buckley, 70 of Milford OH passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Hospice of Cincinnati. Mike was born on December 30, 1951 in Kenton county KY to the late Thomas J. and Jean L. (Evanshine) Buckley. He attended Covington Catholic High School where he was (according to Mike) a standout on their first football team. Following high school, he graduated from the University of Kentucky. He is survived by his loving companion Lynne Steinhilber, daughter Melanie Hansbauer (Joe), son John (Jessica), son Neal, son Evan (Allison), daughter Lauren, sister Kathy Buckley (Roger Voss), sister Patricia Shearer (Jon), brother John “Jay”, 10 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. His beloved Beer Team along with many other Samsung employees were truly a second family to him. Mike was the life of the party always arriving with quirky gifts and his infamous bag o’ snacks. Cornhole usually ensued with Mike winning thanks to scoring several jumanji’s. He loved his Bengals (who dey!) and his Reds (PPITH), Elvis and bourbon. He and Lynne did extensive traveling, but he was the most happy sitting in his Coleman chair beside a body of water drinking Blue Moon and smoking a fine cigar. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Mother of God Church 119 W. 6th Street, Covington Ky. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation. My condolences to those who loved him
I worked with “Mick” (as we called him) many, many years ago. He became a friend and taught me a lot about life. I’m glad to have had the privilege of knowing him. Rest well, Mick.
My Condolences
Haven’t seen Mike for years but I fondly remember some of the ‘good old days’ we shared. Softball, bowling and a few beers back before the knees went bad and the families grew up. Rest in peace.

Boss and Friend
Mike hired me at Samsung. He called me and said “my boss told me you were the best, so this isn’t an interview, when do you want to start”. That was June, I said September 7th. He said, ok I can make that work. I knew we were going to be a good fit. He came to Oregon and to my house to show me the Samsung ropes. He said it’s going to feel like your never going to learn all these processes but you will. He was organized and so thoughtful about the on boarding. He worked hard to make everyone feel part of a team and to understand how special he felt it was to work together. He liked to win and play hard and loved to sell. He made sure we all had coolers, mine is green. I had no idea where it came from and had to call Amazon to see who sent it. I have green matching camping chairs from Mike. He set up an elaborate camping trip for his team in Ohio so we could all see what he loved and experience it together. We got to meet Lynne, his love and drink beer floating in the water near their home. He reminded us all to feel so lucky we were at Samsung and in sales. He showed us his heart and in return he had a loyal following. With love..

To Lynne, Mike’s Kids, Grandkids and family:
My thoughts and prayers are with each of you as I can imagine this is an extremely difficult time. Mike was a breath of fresh air and the world could use a lot more people like him.
Mike hired me onto his Beer Team after interviewing me at Panera in Newport in 2017. I was prepped for a serious interview that March afternoon, wearing a suit and tie and with nervous energy. UK had lost to UNC on a buzzer beater the night before and I tried to use that as an ice breaker. You see, I’d done my research he was a UK grad like me. Well it didn’t work, he said, “sh*t happens.”
As soon as he uttered those words I knew he was my guy. It took him a little longer to be sure I was his…but he told me just that by the end of the interview. “You’re my guy,” he said.
Thus the beginning of a friendship that I wish would have lasted much longer and guidance that I’ll carry with me for a lifetime. Mike had a heart of gold. He cared so deeply and really went above and beyond to make his people feel special.
I will forever cherish my conversations with Mike. He taught me so much in such a short period of time about work and life. It isn’t often that a great boss can be a better friend.
I’m going to miss our chats about the Hit King (we were both there Sept 11, 1985), our mutual love of Jack Brown’s Burger Joint, his envy of my Goetta skills, my envy of his flatop mastery and his incredible sense of humor.
I wish I could give him one more UK Basketball recruiting update so he could tell me to be quiet.
