Michael Cottrell

Michael “Mike” Cottrell, 74, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away on July 11, 2026. Mike was born on December 5, 1951, in Harlan, Kentucky, to the late Nancy (Nee Curnett) Egan. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years.

Mike married the love of his life, Mary (Nee Buten) Cottrell, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, cheering on Cincinnati sports teams, trips to the casino with family and friends, and had a lifelong interest in classic cars. Mike and Mary enjoyed opening their home to family and friends, where he was always the first to offer a cold beer.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Mary Cottrell; children, Michelle (Scott) Marston, Mike Cottrell, and Megan (Evan) Henn; grandchildren, Luke and Mallorie Marston; siblings, Terry (Judy) Cottrell, Robin (Al) Clinkenbeard, and Donnie (Lane) Samuels; and numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Egan.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Homes, Burlington. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation. Mike will be privately laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North at a later date.
