Mercedes A. Appling, 100, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022, at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills. She was born August 28, 1921, in New Orleans, LA, to the late Ray and Hazel Alcantara. She was the loving and devoted wife to the late Joe L. Appling. She was a homemaker and worked part-time as a substitute teacher with the Kenton County School District as well as the Covington School District. Survivors include her sons Joel L.(Sandy) Appling and Jeffrey J. Appling. She was the loving grandmother of Jennifer Mitchell plus great grandmother to Morgan, Makaya, Jonah Mitchell, and great grandmother to Callie Rose. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society 4540 Cooper Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45242.
