Mary Jean Giltner, 93, of Ft. Wright, KY, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side on Friday, December 22, 2023.

Mary Jean was born on March 21, 1930, to the late Walter and Helen Binder.  She was raised in Ft. Thomas and was a 1948 graduate of Highlands High School who went on to study Home Economics at Eastern Kentucky University. Mary Jean was a very active individual in her community.  She was a founding member of the Kenton Heights Women’s Club, where she was currently active, and was one of the most dedicated Junior Board members and supporters of the Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky.  Mary Jean was very involved and was PTA president at every school her daughters had attended.  She was an active member at Immanuel United Methodist Church, a longtime member of the EKU Foundation Board of Directors and Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati EKU Alumni Chapter.

Along with being involved in the community, Mary Jean enjoyed doing crafts, oil painting and needlepoint.  She loved to travel and was part of a large camping group.  Most of all, Mary Jean loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helen Binder; husband, Ray Giltner; daughter, Becky Giltner Melching; and sister, Joyce Binder.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth “Bip” Leidolf (Erv); son-in-law, Jeff Melching (Jenny); grandchildren: Andy Leidolf (Jessica), Josh Leidolf (Alysse), Lance Melching (Lindsay), Jamie Leidolf (Jessi), Kyle Melching (Catherine) and Rachel Baker (Jordan); great-grandchildren: Liam, Henry, Addy, Lottie, Ellie, Jackson, Leni, Sam, Nolan and Camden.

A visitation will be held for Mary Jean on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 1:00 PM until the time of service, 2:00 PM at Immanuel Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, KY 41017.  Burial will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell.
