Mary Ann Pingel Unkraut, 97, of Edgewood, Kentucky passed away peacefully Tuesday March 19th at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 31, 1926 in Covington, KY, the daughter of John Joseph and Stella (Straub) Pingel.

She is preceeded in death by her parents, her husband William J. Unkraut Jr., her brother John B. Pingel, sisters Barbara Unkraut and Elizabeth Jean Pingel. She is survived by her daughter Laura L. Unkraut, sons Richard T. Unkraut and William J. Unkraut, one and only granddaughter Lauren N. Mary Ann was a legal secretary for many years. She was a talented classical pianist. She loved music and dancing and won numerous dancing awards. She felt that her dancing contributed to her ability to live such a long and healthy life. She loved animals, especially Marley, her dog friend next door. She loved the colors lavender  and purple. She was very energetic and was incredibly kind hearted and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She loved family events and she was pretty much the family photographer. She loved taking care of children in the family where there were tea party’s, dress up, baseball and playing school. She was a good cook like her mother Stella Pingel and her sister, Bonnie.  She loved her flowers in the yard, in particular Lavender and purple iris’, asiatic lily’s, calla lily’s and purple fountain grass planted each Mother’s Day. She organized high school family reunions into her nineties. She had a sincere passion for life and all that life offered. She was so easy to love and will be missed by so many who loved her.
