Darlene Elders Wigginton

Obituary
Condolences

Darlene Elders Wigginton, 77, of Hebron, KY, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 30, 2025.

Born on Christmas Day, 1947, in Maysville, KY, Darlene was the second oldest of seven children born to Wilbert and Helen Elders. She was raised in Boone County and graduated from Boone County High School in 1966. From a young age, Darlene had a love for music—especially The Beatles—and proudly played the drums in a band during her teenage years.

She met her first husband, George Kaylor, while working at Van Luenen’s, and the two married in 1969. Together they raised three children—Melissa, Donald, and Dustin. Darlene was a devoted and hardworking mother, often holding two or three jobs to support her family. Over the years, she worked in various office and logistical support roles with Mazak, Hughes Oyster House, Johnson Controls, and later DB Schenker, where she remained until retiring at the age of 70.

Throughout her life, Darlene continued to pour her energy into family, work, and home. She loved music, travel, and especially her trips to Fort Myers, Florida. Darlene enjoyed shopping, cleaning, and treating herself to simple pleasures—like her beloved Mitsubishi Spyder convertible, which she traded in for extra space once the grandkids arrived.

Family meant everything to Darlene. She found her greatest joy in being “Grandma” and loved taking her grandchildren to movies, the pool, and shopping trips. Whether cheering from the sidelines or spending a quiet afternoon watching her soap operas, she was happiest surrounded by those she loved.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Helen Elders. She is survived by her children, Melissa (Scott) Kaylor-Zenni, Donald (Jessica Sakine-Kaylor) Kaylor, and Dustin (Sarah) Kaylor; siblings, Janet (Jack) Dunhoft, Wanda (Tony) Casey, Don Elders, Ed (Judy) Elders, Diane (Mike) Henderson, and Mark (Gail) Elders; and her beloved grandchildren, Gavin Kaylor, Tessa Wilson-Kaylor, Jacob Kaylor, Kaylee Kaylor, and Faares Sakine.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Burlington, KY, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Darlene will be laid to rest at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.
