Leo Brophy

Leo J. Brophy, Jr., 96, of Fort Wright, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at his residence. He was the founder of Brophy Insurance and Real Estate, Inc.; an Army Veteran of World War II where he served with the 254th Infantry Regiment, 63rd Division; a life-long member of St. Agnes Parish; one of the founding fathers of the City of Ft. Wright; and he organized the Fort Wright Volunteer Fire Department leading the fundraising effort to buy the city’s first fire truck. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Kurre) Brophy; grandson, Jeffrey Alan Brophy; great-granddaughter, Elana Renee Brophy; brother, Joseph Edwin Brophy; and sister, Virginia Margaret Marosi; and son-in-law, Tom P. Corsmeier. Survivors include his: sons, Leo J. Brophy, III, James P. Brophy, and John H. Brophy, all of Fort Wright, and Jerry P. (Del) Brophy of Edgewood; daughter, Mary Ann Corsmeier of Florence; sister, Mary Jane Donadio; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 29, at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright with Mass of Christian Burial following at 7 p.m. A reception will follow the Mass in Murphy Hall. Burial St. Mary Cemetery.
