Laverne Hopkins

Laverne Hopkins, 81, of Erlanger, KY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. She was a member of the Erlanger Lions Club, as well as, the Erlanger Lioness Club where she was president from 1995-1996. Laverne also held offices as a Director, 1st & 2nd Vice President and Secretary. Throughout her involvement she received many awards, such as, the Lioness of the Year Award in 1990, Melvin Jones Award in 1996, Lifetime Patron Award and Finis Davis Award. The many committees she served on were Bingo, Eyesight, Finance/Budget, Scholarship, Health & Welfare, Easter Egg Hunt, New Year’s Eve Dance, Valentine Dance and the Carnival. Her greatest pleasure was volunteering at the Blind Camp at Camp Crescendo in the summer. Laverne was preceded in death by her late husband, Fred Hopkins. She is survived by son, Michael (Kathy) Hopkins; daughter, Cindy (David) Metz; grandchildren, Aaron (Amy) Hopkins, Tyler Hopkins, Steve Metz (Heather McGowan), Pat (Kate) Metz and Beth (Bryan) Lemmel; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Karen Collier. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger, KY from 6 PM-9 PM. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, August 5, 2013 at St. Paul Church in Florence, KY at 12:10 PM with burial immediately following at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following services at the Erlanger Lions Club 5996 Belair Dr. Florence, KY 41042.
