KATHY JEAN SCHMIDT
September 2, 1953 – November 22, 2025
Kathy Jean Schmidt, of Hebron, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2025. She was born on September 2, 1953, to the late Carl and Olive Robb (née Goldman).
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Phyllis Jane Dillard, Edith Joan Whetstone, Carolyn Sue Downs, Carl Eugene Robb, Sandra Kay Leister, Melvin Ray Robb, and Rick Dean Robb. She is survived by her brother, James Lee Robb.
Kathy was the loving and fiercely devoted mother of Tara Fischer (Brian), Mandy Bilyeu (Larry), John Mark Schmidt (Liz), and Kayci Schmidt. Her grandchildren — Olivia (Oscar), Della, Finn, Shawn, Mac, and Nikoli — were the center of her world. She also had room in her heart for countless “bonus children and grandchildren including Susan, Quarter, Rosie and JP” each of whom found comfort in her home, her humor, and her famous straightforward advice.
Kathy had a lifelong love for her fur babies and a soft spot for anything with a wagging tail. She proudly held the title of choir mom and showed up with the kind of energy, encouragement, and eye-roll-wrapped-in-love that only she could deliver.
Her sassy sense of humor was truly her trademark. Kathy had a quick wit, a playful spark, and a way of saying exactly what she thought — usually with a grin that lets you know she meant every word, even if it made you laugh at yourself. She could lighten a room with a single comment, and her presence made ordinary days feel a little brighter.
A woman of many interests, Kathy was a bowling queen, an avid reader, and a lover of theatre — especially Mamma Mia. She cherished her time at the beach, soaking in the sun and the serenity it brought her.
Kathy will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and the many people whose lives were made lighter, warmer, and a whole lot funnier because she was in them.
A private celebration of Kathy’s life will be hosted by the family. The family requests that instead of flowers contributions be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in her name.
