Joyce McClurg, age 95, of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. Born on December 24, 1930, in Fort Mitchell, Joyce was the daughter of the late Rueben Arthur and Katherine “Kate” Hodder.
She was a proud graduate of Beechwood High School. Joyce dedicated many years of her career to the H&S Pouge’s Company, where she worked as a Departmental Personnel Manager.
In her younger years, Joyce loved spending time bowling with her beloved late husband and their many friends. She cherished holidays, family gatherings, and the joy of being surrounded by her large and loving family. Family meant everything to her.
In 2016, Joyce and her husband moved to Tennessee to live with their daughter, Vicki, who lovingly took over as her caregiver. Prior to that, Joyce’s daughter-in-law, Kathy, devoted years of compassionate care and support to both Joyce and her husband.
After losing her eyesight years ago, Joyce found comfort and happiness through her cherished “Talking Books” service, which provided her with recorded books that she dearly loved listening to.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William McClurg.; her sister, Dorothy Noble; her brother, Rueben Arthur “Bud” Hodder II; and her sister, Jeanne Borchers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Vicki McClurg; her son, William Wade “Bill” (Kathy) McClurg II; her grandchildren, William Wade “Billy” (Shanté) McClurg, Jeremy McClurg, and Skylar McClurg; her great-grandchild, William McClurg IV; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill McClurg, Billy McClurg, Jeremy McClurg, Greg Ransom, Melinda Hardin, Randall Hardin, and Jackie Wilson.
A graveside service for Joyce will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Highland Cemetery. Funeral procession to the cemetery will begin at 1:30PM starting from Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to organizations supporting the blind and visually impaired, including the Talking Books program, or to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
