Joni Spautz Benedict passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.  She grew up in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from Patricia Stevens Fashion Merchandising College and began her career in retail at Casual Corners in Minneapolis, MN.  Joni worked in retail management for over 30 years and ended her career as a regional manager for Dots LLC.  She had a strong love for fashion and enjoyed helping others find their style.

Joni was the life of the party, you could find her by the pool with a cocktail in hand.  She made friends anywhere she went and always wanted to inspire others with her long battle with cancer.  She battled ovarian cancer for over 15 years and always kept a positive attitude and never let her illness keep her from enjoying the things she loved.  Joni loved going to Earth Wind and Fire concerts and had a special love for cats, she rescued many strays over the years.

Joni is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Gail Spautz and one brother, Stephen Spautz.

Joni is survived by her sister, Nancy (Emilio) Marcos; nieces, Ashley Noth, Gabrielle Fleece, Gail Marcos and many great friends.

A Mass will be held for Joni on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, in Burlington, KY, at 11:00 a.m.  Joni will be laid to rest in Iowa.

Joni was very compassionate about helping others in any way that she could.  She was a cornea donor when she passed away.  Our hope is that others will consider donating the gift of life.

Rest in peace Joni

I am so sorry that I just found out about your passing. You were the strongest and most positive women I have ever known. You fought an admirable fight! Happy that you are now pain free my friend.

Rest in peace dear Joni

You were my first District Manager ever at the Children’s Place MOA. You treated me more like family than a coworker, and even offered me a place to stay when needed. You are the reason I am still in retail management today. You had a huge heart, and your kindness will be forever remembered. Love you Joni. Jennifer Burkart ❤️

Good bye dear friend

I will miss you everyday Joni. Your light shined bright and you touched so many life’s. Rest in peace my sister . From Dee

Goodbye my friend

You were a star
Shinning through the darkness
Now the world is a little darker
You’ll be missed
