John Wayne Morris “Big John”, 69, of Elsmere, KY, passed away on June 6, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY.

John graduated from Campbell County High School in 1972. After providing 47 years of service as a steel worker, he retired from Newport Steel (now Ipsco Steel). He was the President of Covington F.O.P.A. # 20, past President of both the Erlanger Lions Club and the USWA Local 1870, and he served on numerous boards and committees including Chairman of the Erlanger Lions Hall Rental and the annual carnival, as well as Arnett Elementary and Tichenor Middle School PTA when his daughter was in school.

He had a zest for life and never sat still. An adventurer at heart, John found joy in travel alongside his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. He got to visit 48 states and Canada. He relished evenings watching his favorite TV shows such as Seinfeld, King of Queens, and Young Sheldon. Going grocery shopping, dining out and capturing moments with his family and friends through photographs were among his treasured pastimes. John was a friend to many, and never met a stranger. He was always willing to lend a hand or an ear to a friend. He was a Kentucky Colonel for 35 years.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Becky Morris; daughter, Chrissy (Danny) Disibio; sister, Carolyn Gaukel; grandchildren Mackenzie and Andrew Disibio; 4 sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Lillian Morris; his brother, Robert Morris; and 4 brothers-in-law.

A visitation for John will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 4:00PM-6:00PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 6:00PM. He will be cremated following the service.

Special Bond

I will miss you so much Uncle John, I always felt their was a special bond we shared. You and Becky helped me through some difficult times surrounding my first marriage, I’ll never forget the goofy Woody Allen movie you guys took me to at the drive-in. And we shared our medical victories and medical challenges and prayed for and cheered each other on through them all, in heart, spirit and in person. You will always remain and hold such a special place in my heart. And one day we will all meet again, until then, my love remains and I’ll miss you dearly especially, at family gatherings, you were always the light that lit up the room.❤️
