John A. Schroth, age 87, died on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his daughter’s home in Melbourne, KY surrounded by his 8 children and with his wife’s lips on his for their final kiss. John worked at B & O Railroad/CSX for over 40 years. John lived most of his life in Edgewood, KY and was a lifelong member of St. Pius X Church. John was an avid reader, a history buff and great lover of music. He was a proud WWII veteran having served in active combat in the European theater where he was awarded with two bronze stars medals, good conduct medal, victory medal and WWII army of occupation medal Germany. He is survived by his devoted wife and soul mate of 63 years, Agnes Schroth (nee Moser), 8 children; Connie Drews (Gary) of Taylor Mill, KY, Nancy Hicks (John) and Karen Washburn both of Florence, KY, Peggy Graue (Rick) of Warsaw, KY, Michael Schroth of Independence, KY, Theresa Cason (Don) of Union, KY, Mary Jo Duffy (Tim) and Susan Jacobs (Jimmy) both of Melbourne, KY, sisters; Mary Ann Cowan, Peggy Walker and Julie Carter all of Ohio. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Donald Cason, Jr. and great grandchild Nolan Halenkamp. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Linnemann Family Funeral Homes, Erlanger. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, KY. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY with military honors to follow. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass 7388 Turfway Road Florence, KY 41042.
