Joel Blaze Leonard

Joel Blaze Leonard, age 4, of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, passed away on December 5, 2025. Born on February 28, 2021, in Nashville, Tennessee, Joel came into this world fighting—diagnosed with Trisomy 18 and not expected to survive to term. But Joel defied every odd set before him. With an unbreakable spirit and a mother who refused to give up on him, he not only made it into the world—he filled it with nearly five years of joy, laughter, and light.

Joel embodied the purest meaning of strength. He faced every challenge with a smile, bringing courage and warmth into every hospital room and every moment of his journey. Spunky, silly, and full of personality, he giggled easily and loved deeply. His joy was infectious, touching countless people who followed his story and found inspiration in his resilience. He loved to dance—especially to Morgan Wallen—and nothing made him happier than being with his mom, who was his truest advocate, protector, and hero.

Joel is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Karen Henderson.

He is survived by his devoted mother, Sarah Henderson; maternal grandmother, Jennifer Henderson; his Godmom, PJ Jackson; siblings, Kaygan Ledgerwood, Kolson Ledgerwood, and Bryson Ledgerwood; his aunt, Katie Jeffords; and his God uncle, Jordan Jackson. Each of them carries pieces of Joel’s light in their hearts.
