Joan Margaret Nienaber

Joan Margaret Nienaber, 74, of Union, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky with family by her side.  She was born May 18, 1950, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Carl Ferdinand Beckerich and Gertrude Margaret (Burkart) Beckerich.  Joan graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1968 and the University of Kentucky in 1972.

Known for her kind, patient nature and boundless generosity, Joan touched the lives of everyone fortunate to know her.  She was a loving, caring mother and raised her two daughters with values of kindness, compassion, and determination.  In her role as grandmother (Gaga/Grandma) is where her joy truly shone.  Joan loved her grandchildren with all of her heart and cherished every moment attending their shows, concerts, and games or spending countless hours reading, playing, or simply talking to them.

Her circle of friends was vast, a testament to her loyalty and the meaningful connections she fostered.  She was always ready with a helping hand, a listening ear, a steady shoulder or a witty remark to lighten the mood.  Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we find comfort in knowing her legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.

Joan was survived by children Amy (Joe) Deans and Allison (Kris) Flesch, her grandchildren: Carson and Taylor Deans; Zoey, Ella, Lily, Judah and Ivey Flesch; her sister Judy (Pat) Sheridan and Sisters-in-law Sherry (Bob) McHugh and Terri Williams.

Please join us for a celebration of life on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 2pm – 6pm at Traditions Golf Club located at 2035 Williams Road, Hebron, Kentucky.
