Jim Ross

James Cole Ross (Jim), age 49, son of Jane Ross and the late Roger Ross, died from complications of leukemia on October 10 at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY. He was born on February 16, 1965, in Lexington, KY, and grew up in Lawrenceburg, KY, graduating from Anderson County High School in 1983. He then attended Eastern Kentucky University while working part-time for Delta Air Lines in Lexington. He then accepted a full-time position with Delta which took him to Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky where he spent approximately the next 25 years, most recently living in Florence, KY. In addition to his mother, Jim is survived by two sons, Zane Cole Ross and Nicolus Bower Ross, both of Boone County; a brother, Roger Steven Ross (Lynette) of Lawrenceburg, KY; an uncle, Dr. J. Thomas Ross (Sue) of Danville, KY; two aunts, Kaye (Bob) McGlothin of Williston, FL, and Sue (John) Litkenhus of Lawrenceburg, KY; nephew Roger Samuel Ross of Nashville, TN; and many cousins and cherished friends. Jim loved outdoor activities such as hiking and backpacking. He was an avid UK football and basketball fan, but his favorite sports experience was following his sons’ soccer games. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 14 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY. The funeral service, also at Linnemann, will be at 11:00 a.m. on October 15, with the Rev. Jim Wheeler of Lawrenceburg, KY First Christian Church officiating. A short gravesite service will follow at the Lawrenceburg Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or one’s favorite charity.
