Condolences

Jay C. Ball, 57, of Burlington, KY, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY.

Born on February 21, 1968, in Ventura, California, Jay was the beloved son of Harry and Carol Ball. He was the middle of three siblings, growing up alongside his brother, Troy and sister, Dana.

Jay dedicated 36 years of his life to Kellogg, now Ferrero, where he worked as a skilled Maintenance Mechanic. It was there, working third shift in January of 1996, that he met the love of his life, Dawn; a meeting that would shape the next 29 years.

Jay was the definition of a family man; a devoted husband, a proud and loving father of four, and papaw to five, and someone who found true joy in the moments spent with those he loved. Whether it was camping at Red River Gorge, fishing, hiking, or just being outdoors, Jay lived life to the fullest and embraced every adventure that came his way.

Known to many as “Mr. Fix It,” Jay had a gift for working with his hands and could fix just about anything. But even more than his mechanical talents, he was known for his unique personality, always quick with a joke or a funny remark, bringing laughter wherever he went.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Carol Ball.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Dawn Ball (neé Greene); children: Brooke (Brian) Molloy, Callie (Josh) Sheffield, Nathan (Alyssa) Ball and Christopher Ball (Dutch Visser); grandchildren: Isaiah, Carsyn, Ashton, Wren, Cooper and one on the way; brother, Troy Ball and sister, Dana Smith; and fur babies who he loved to spoil, Bella and Mercy.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM until the time of service, 6:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005. Burial will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Burlington Cemetery at 3:00 PM.

Goodbye Forever

Cancer comes to steal, kill and destroy the human race
We are left with memories upon our face
Make the most of your time while here living
Take care of yourself amongst the giving
Grief is hard as some of you know
A love we lost, a new life to grow
No time can replace the name he made
A brother in law like Jay I wouldn’t trade.
I’ll never forget the three eighteen
You battled for years, our life has changed
The time has come for us to part
Leaving us all with a broken heart.

Memories Made, I Would Not Trade

What a tough loss we have to endure. There’s not a man alive to follow your footsteps. We have so many memories to last a lifetime. You will be dearly missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his greatest love Dawn and his children and grandbabies. He had the most beautiful love for his family.
