Tributes
Janet Ruth Wood, 85, born in Crescent City, CA. passed away Thursday December 13, 2024 at an assisted Living in Florence, KY. She was a graduate of the University of Oregon in 1961 and has lived in Kentucky since 1969. She’s had several occupations including a secretary, medical librarian, social worker for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, tax accountant and was qualified by the IRS as an enrolled agent. She has been a member of Mensa since 1975. Janet was an avid reader who was also a cultured patron of the Arts, and enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Europe. Preceded in death by her brother George L. Wood and sister Roberta Wood Coulson. Survivors include her son Thomas Pratt, daughter Susan (Michael) Pratt Taylor. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Prospect Point Clubhouse 2904 River Cliff Rd, Villa Hills, KY 41017 January 18, 2025 at 2pm. For those who wish to come pay their respects musically are welcome. I worked with Janet as a caseworker at Social Insurance. She was always friendly and helpful. If I could not figure out how to approve a case, she came to my rescue to
help. We both belonged to Kentucky Public Retirees after retiring from state government. Janet was always interested in hearing about my life in Thialand before coming to Kentucky to live. Janet will be missed.

I worked with Janet at Community Based Services. When I started working there I was intimidated by Janet mainly since tall and very smart. Once I was placed in her unit got to know her as very kind, helpful, and very funny. Sitting by her and Rose Delay with both of their sense of humor made stressful job brighter. After Janet went to P&P I had very little contact with her. Long behold I attend my retirement party and Janet was there. Many years had passed. What a nice surprise. This would be last time to see or speak with Janet.
