James T. “J.T.” Mulligan, 83, of Erlanger, KY, passed away on Friday January 17, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. JT served the Erlanger community as a teacher, athletic director and high school baseball coach at Lloyd Memorial High School and Tichenor Middle School for 37 years. Mr. Mulligan is a member of the Kentucky Baseball Hall of Fame, Queen City Umpires, Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame, Lloyd Athletic Hall of Fame, Knothole Hall of Fame, Kentucky High School Coaches Hall of Fame, Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, Kenton County Teachers Association, Hebron Masonic Lodge 757, Scottish Rite, Erlanger United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men. In addition to his many memberships, J.T. also served as the Dixie Area Knothole Supervisor, was voted 9th Region Coach of the Year, coached the Otto Printing Knothole Team to the Greater Cincinnati Championships in Class A and B, and won many championships with the Lloyd High School baseball team. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Eloise Roberts Mulligan of Erlanger, KY, son Mike Mulligan of Erlanger, KY, daughter Monica Smith (Bruce) of Erlanger, KY, two grandsons Justin Brinkman (Eileen) of Independence, KY and Trey Mulligan of Louisville, KY, great-grandson Boston Brinkman, step-grandson Craig Smith (Suzanne), sister-in-law Marcella Ashcraft (Dennis) of Florence, KY, brother-in-law Hollis Roberts (Billie) of Elizabethtown, KY, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday January 20, 2014 9am until 1pm at Erlanger United Methodist Church. A Masonic Service will begin at 1pm at the church with the funeral service immediately following. A reception will be held at Lloyd Memorial High School’s Scheben Gymnasium following the entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
