James Martin “Marty” Code

James Martin “Marty” Code Jr., 91, of Union, KY, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. Marty retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company after 27 years as a salesman. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed aviation and in his younger years, camping with his family in Myrtle Beach and Gatlinburg, TN.  Marty also was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and later, St. Cecilia Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Fr. Bealer Knights of Columbus and the Walton Lion’s Club.

Marty was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Code Bain; his sisters, Mary (Calvin) Cress, Ann Code, and Helen (Perry) Renaker; his brother, Joseph “Toby” Code; and his niece, Michelle Mershon.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn Code (nee Mershon); his son, Kevin Code; his son-in-law, Todd Bain; and his brother-in-law, Tom (Sherry) Mershon.

Marty also leaves behind his grandchildren, Aidan Code, and Neala and Dempsey Bain, whom he adored.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Independence, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 12:00PM at the church. Burial will be at St. Cecilia Cemetery.
