James Downton

James C. Downton, age 72 died Friday February 11, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood. He was a resident of Independence, and formerly a longtime resident of Villa Hills. He grew up in Cincinnati’s Western Hills area. He was a graduate of Elder High School and the University of Indiana. He was a veteran of the United States Nay. James was a retired sales representative working in the paper industry. James and his wife Marilyn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June of 2010.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Independence; 3 daughters Marilyn (Michael) Shover of Ft. Mitchell, Lisa (Steve) Martin of Cincinnati and Laura (Brian) Benzinger of Covington; 1 son James (Lisa) Downton of Villa Hills; a brother John Downton of Nashville, Tennessee. He was grandpa to Amanda, Alex, Mitchell, Mary Kate, Max, Anna, Allison, Braden, Jay, Brett, Will, Easton, Nicholas, Christopher, Abby, Alex, Jessica and Devin. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday 11:30a.m. -1pm followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Independence , Kentucky. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
