H. Logan Vaughn III, 81, of Erlanger, KY passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Villa Springs Healthcare in Erlanger, KY. Survived by his wonderful and beloved wife, Joann Kittle Vaughn of 54 years, as well as many nieces and nephews. Only son of deceased parents, H. Logan Vaughn II and Martha Belle Dishon Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955 where he was an Air Traffic Controller in England, Morocco, and Ft. Campbell. He was employed for General Electric Aviation Service Operation/Cincinnati in Human Resources for over 33 years, was a 1951 graduate of Lloyd Memorial High School. He attended Northern Kentucky Extension of the University of Kentucky, Villa Madonna, Thomas More, and graduated from Salmon P. Chase Business School. Logan worked for the first YMCA when it was first established in Florence, KY and was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. He loved bowling, golf, his three dogs and sports. Managed a Class A Knot Hole team as a junior and coached church basketball, played Knot Hole Baseball and American Legion for Simon Kenton Post #20. While in the military he played basketball and baseball in England and Fort Campbell. After the military, Mr. Vaughn played semi pro baseball, as well as fast pitch softball. He played major league slow pitch for the Ohio Valley Industrial Valley League. His GE team was champions for several years. For many years at Deer Creek, his Erlanger Merchants team played in Class D, C, and B Municipal League. He and his wife are both members of the Lloyd Memorial Alumni Association. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM with service to follow at Linnemann Family Funeral Homes in Erlanger, KY. Burial immediately following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Boone County Animal Shelter, 5643 Idlewild Rd., Burlington, KY 41005 or Lloyd Memorial High School Alumni Association, 450 Bartlett Ave., Erlanger, KY 41018.
