Helen Chavez

Helen Annette Chavez (nee: Thomas) 82, of Edgewood, KY passed away on August 1, 2014 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was a member of St. Pius X Church, an avid reader and a true sports fan. Teaching was her passion; teaching in elementary school and as a professor at Brescia University in Owensboro, KY and retiring as a professor at Northern Kentucky University. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Lyda Thomas, her brother, Bobby Thomas, and sisters, Mary Jane Carrico, Susy Logsdon, and Barbara Mattingly. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Andy Chavez also of Edgewood, Kentucky and her daughter, Emily Raymer of Taylor Mill, KY and one granddaughter, Lauryn Raymer, also of Taylor Mill, KY. She is also survived by her sisters, Connie O’Daniel of Nicholasville, KY, Nancy Totten of Louisville, KY, Kathy Thomas (David) of Mt. Washington, KY, Peggy Gorman (Tim) of Harrodsburg, KY, and Jacky Thomas (Jimmy Stevens) of San Diego, CA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Linnemann Funeral Home, 30 Commonwealth Avenue, Erlanger, Ky. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 6th at St. Pius X Church, 340 Dudley Pike, Edgewood, KY. at 11:00 A.M. The eulogy will be delivered prior to mass beginning at 10:50 A.M. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Taylor Mill.KY. A reception will follow at the home of Marty and Sandy Butler, 251 Walker Lane, Edgewood, KY 41017.
