Harry Shepherd
Harry Thomas Shepherd Jr., 97, of Lakeside Park, KY, passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Hospice on Thursday, October 26, 2023. Harry was born in Covington, KY on December 29, 1925 to the late Harry Sr. and Louise (Quick) Shepherd. After graduating high school in 1943, Harry enlisted in the US Army Air Corps Reserve and upon his 18th birthday was called into service as an Aviation Cadet. As a cadet he earned the rank of 1st Lt. and was trained as a B-29 flight engineer during WWII. While still in the service, Harry married his late wife Audrey on April 21, 1945 in Amarillo, TX. He was called back into service during the Korean conflict and ultimately remained active in the Air Force Reserves with the 302nd Troop Carrier Wing during the 1950’s. After the service, Harry obtained his first long time employment with IBM as an instructor in the electric typewriter division. After IBM, Harry was a long time employee in the field of Industrial Fluid Power, designing and selling industrial hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power systems. He ultimately served as the sales manager at his firm. Harry had a passion for golfing, fishing, hunting, and model airplane building. He even became a radio amateur and still maintained his license. He quotes his greatest life accomplishments as finding his beloved wife and having such great children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Harry was preceded in death by a brother Jack Shepherd. He is survived by his children Debbie Richie (Tim) and David Shepherd (Helen), grandchildren: Ashley Pichlik (Eric), Sarah Osterbrook (Josh), Erin Isaacson (Andy), Derek Richie (Abigail Dinkelacker), and Kyle Richie, great grandchildren: Tessa, Brett, Clayton, and Jack, and brother Edward Stuart Shepherd (Harriett). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 11am until 1pm at Highland Cemetery Chapel with a service immediately following. He has been entombed at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY with his beloved wife Audrey.

What A Friend
Sorry to hear of Harry’s passing. He was a wonderful friend. Harry and I met when he was hired by the company I was working for, and I was just promoted to Outside Sales. Harry had one side of town and I was on the other. We met frequently for lunches, and joked about those days the last time I saw him. He kind of took me under his arm and showed me the ropes of Outside Sales. I will miss him dearly. Sorry, but I just learned of his passing today – November 13.
Wonderful former neighbor
Harry and Audrey welcomed us and our 3 children into the neighborhood on Rivard Drive. We were lucky to live by them for 19 years. We still remember a photo that Harry brought down to us which he took of our home on a foggy evening in Ft. Wright. Sorry about his passing. We have nice memories of the both of them.

I had the pleasure of meeting Harry & Audry many many years ago at the hospital. We just connected from the 1st time we met. I always said they were the cutest, classiest, sweetest, most kind couple I ever met! Loved them both. What a fantastic, long wonderful life he had!
So very sorry for your loss. So happy though for Harry that he’s joined his beautiful wife in Heaven.

Such an amazing man..
As a healthcare professional, I had the honor and pleasure of getting to know Harry very well these past three years. My favorite story was when Harry called me up one day and asked for assistance with his medication. Gracia was out of town but he was confused and wasn’t sure what dose of this particular medication to take. After staying on the phone with him for 30 minutes, I finally offered to drive over to his home to help him. He was so flustered but never once did he yell or get short with me. He’d just laugh in embarrassment. “I’m getting too old..” he’d say. He was a favorite 🙂 Shepard family, you’re so blessed to have this man apart of your lives. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
