Gusta Naomi “Sis” Elder

Gusta Naomi “Sis” Elder, 98, of Villa Hills, Kentucky, passed away on December 6, 2024, just one day after celebrating her 98th birthday. She was born on December 5, 1926, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, to James and Emma Stevens. Gusta was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, known for her warm heart and strong family bonds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Elder; her parents, James and Emma Stevens; her siblings, Marie Goff, Geneva Elder, Beulah Hart, Jeanette Cook, Faye Hickam, Phil Stevens, and Shirley Thompson; and her son-in-law, John Dwyer.

Gusta is survived by her daughter, Janet Dwyer; her son, Kenny Elder (Patty); her sisters, Juanita McHargue and Dolores McClure; her grandchildren, James Elder, Jesse Elder, great-grandchildren Hunter Elder, and Jackson Elder; great-great-grandchildren Haidyn Elder and Harley Elder and many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

A former Treasurer of the Ohio Cosmetology Association, Gusta was known for her passion for community and service. She had a great love for spending time with family and friends, often gathering around the table to play her favorite game of Rook. Her laughter, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a service at 3:00 p.m., at Linnemann Funeral Home, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005.
