Tributes
Gilbert W. Whitacre Jr., 45, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 6th after a courageous battle against ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Gil was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Ft. Mitchell, the Vice-President of Civil Engineering at Bayer Becker, a member of the Kenton County Planning Commission, a member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Northern Kentucky Home Builders Association, and the 2009 recipient of the Community Leadership Award presented by the Northern Kentucky Home Builders Association.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Whitacre Sr. He is survived by his wife, Dana Whitacre of Lakeside Park, his son Andrew Whitacre, daughters Allison Whitacre and Grace Whitacre all of Lakeside Park, his mother, Patricia Whitacre of Cincinnati, a sister, Gail Lang (Greg) of Cincinnati, brothers, Dan Whitacre (Nancy) of Cincinnati, and Tim Whitacre (Linda) of Sarasota, FL. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Barb Duncan and father-in-law Jim Duncan. He is survived by two nieces, Megan and Claire Whitacre and five nephews, Joe, Jake, Luke, Danny, and Matt Whitacre.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9th, at Blessed Sacrament Church from 5:00-8:00 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Thursday, November 10th at 10:00 A.M. A reception will follow the mass in the church undercroft. A private burial will occur at St. John Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell.
