Gerald Lunsford
Gerald M. Lunsford, 76, passed away on Friday, May 3, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Florence. He is the son of the late Jesse Lunsford and the late Grace Murdock Lunsford Appel. A 1955 graduate of Boone County High School and a 1965 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Gerald spent several years teaching music in Kentucky public schools. In 1984 he went to work for the Internal Revenue Service and continued in his position at the IRS until the time of his death. Gerald joined the Erlanger United Church in 1989 and served as the church organist and as a faithful member of the choir. He previously served as organist at Shinkle United Methodist Church in Covington. Gerald was also active in the United Methodist Men’s Organization and was the 2013 recipient of the Mayo Taylor Award, an annual award given by the Erlanger United Methodist Church to recognize the outstanding contributions made by individuals on behalf of the church. A humble, generous, and kind man, Gerald will be remembered and sincerely missed by his friends. He leaves no immediate survivors. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at the Erlanger United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00. Interment is to be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erlanger.
