Gerald “Jerry” Bush

Obituary
Condolences

Gerald “Jerry” Bush, age 81 of Union, Kentucky, passed away on March 2, 2025. Born in Covington, Kentucky, on June 4, 1943, to the late Stewart and Anna Belle Bush, Jerry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, educator, administrator and friend.

Jerry exemplified the definition of being old school through hard work, intensity, and loyalty to God and family. He instilled this in his own children and in his grandchildren. He took great joy in supporting them at all their games and practices over the years. His love and commitment to his family were evident in everything he did.

Jerry also dedicated many years of his professional life to teaching and coaching. He started his career at Western Hills High School as a teacher and baseball coach from 1969-1975. He then moved to the Sycamore School District and served as a teacher, baseball coach and eventually the athletic director until his retirement in 1995. He had a passion for guiding and mentoring young athletes and his impact on those lives he touched will not be forgotten. He
was elected to the Sycamore Hall of Fame in 2013.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Darlene Bush; sons Greg (Heather) Bush and Brian (Angie) Bush; grandchildren, Ashley Bush, Hayley Nisle (Ben), Tyler Bush and Brett Bush; and his sister, Doris (Charlie) Cheatham.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger, Kentucky with visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The service will follow at 1:00 PM, and entombment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family requests that any donations be made to the First Church of Christ in Burlington in Jerry’s memory.

Jerry’s legacy of love, dedication, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Friend and Neighbor

Friend and Neighbor
Jerry and I were neighbors for over 20 years, back when North Hebron was just beginning to develop. But more than a neighbor, he was a friend. We would talk often about our families, our work and life in general. If anyone ever needed help, Jerry was the first to do so. When the snow was too deep for me and the other neighbors, Jerry would bring his Big Ford Tractor over and clear our driveways. When Jerry’s work and coaching created stress, he would use that same tractor to mow those 5 acres of his and be good as new again. Our kids played together and Darlene was always a breath of sunshine with her loving smile. When we moved to Union, He and Darlene moved there as well a few years later and we stayed in touch.
To Darlene, Greg, Brian and all your whole family, you have our love, prayers and support as you celebrate Jerry.
Kathy and I are in St Petersburg Florida, where we snowbird each winter, and will not be able to be there in person but you all are in our hearts.
Love ❤️
Jim & Kathy Purcell.

A great fella

I knew Jerry during his teaching career and certainly we had many good times together. He was a fierce competitor and loved to win but always played by the rules and with great sportsmanship. My condolences to Darlene and his family.
