Georgia Weiss
Georgia Weiss, 96, of Independence died on December 14th surrounded by her loving family. She was born in 1921 to the late Bernard and Mabel Tretter in Granite City, Illinois. In 1939 at the age of 18, Georgia married the love of her life, Jack. Throughout their 46 year marriage they loved and adored each other, raising four children together. Georgia was an attentive woman. For her children, she was active in their schooling, becoming the president of the PTA at St. Henry. She only missed one Red’s Opening Day since 1957. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Georgia belonged to St. Barbara church and the Senior’s group there. She volunteered for United Christian Volunteers and a traumatic brain injury center. Georgia was also a proud member of the Red Hats. This fireball of a woman will be sorely missed by those who had the privilege to know her. Georgia is preceded in death by both parents; husband, Jack; sister, Wilma Long; brother, Melvin Tretter and granddaughters, Karen Norris and Lena Baynum. She is survived by her children, Linda (Ron) Baynum, Nancy Weiss, Cheryl (Harry) Figgins, and Jack (Ruth Ann) Weiss; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, Dec. 21st. at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger from 6-8PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Barbara Church Friday, Dec. 22nd at 10AM with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Donations in Georgia’s name can be made to St. Barbara Church at 4042 Turkeyfoot Rd. Erlanger, KY 41018 designated to the Building Fund, or a charity of your choice.
